Theme Spotlight: Synthesis
We recently introduced you to Eclipse, our feature-drenched reformation of the portfolio blog. Now we’re launching Synthesis: an eloquent, understated theme for personal and photo blogs alike.
Ultimately, traditional Minimalist themes aren’t too difficult. You focus on a few central details, strip the visible structure to a bare minimum, and that’s where most designers stop. What’s far more challenging is maintaining toned-down aesthetics while actually expanding utility and uniqueness. Synthesis strikes such a balance, including brand-new features in a crisp, unpretentious package.
- Synthesis is our first fully responsive theme. Whether viewing your blog from a mobile device or a resized browser window, Synthesis scales your images and post content to fit perfectly and read clearly. Additionally, scrolling through posts has never been easier: just use the J and K keys to navigate backward or forward (respectively)
- Also appearing for the first time is Facebook commenting. Sure, most themes offer a way to “like” or share posts on Facebook, but Synthesis is among the very first that allows your readers to comment using their Facebook account. And setup is painless—read more here.
- Synthesis’ customizable sidebar is loaded with scores of hover-accented social media links, your twitter feed, and recent likes—all without encroaching upon the main feed’s thin-framed prominence. Consider it Tumblrdom’s most fashionable utility belt.
Synthesis is minimalism without sacrifice: light simplicity with all the bells and whistles. We’re incredibly proud to unveil it today, and to help push minimalist design forward into a new era of increased quality and practicality. Head over to the Tumblr theme marketplace to pick it up for $49.
